FAQ

Common questions about Traquor and how the letters work.

About the service

Is Traquor a law firm?

No. We provide self-help document templates and information. We are not a law firm, we do not provide legal advice, and using Traquor does not create an attorney–client relationship. For high-stakes or complex matters, consult a licensed attorney in your state.

Who is Traquor for?

People with everyday legal disputes — getting a security deposit back, demanding unpaid wages, disputing a billing error, formally complaining to an employer. The kinds of disputes that need a professional letter but don't always justify the cost of a lawyer.

What does it cost?

The templates, statute guides, and 50-state comparison tables on this site are free. A Complete Letter — your facts merged into a statute-cited, editable, downloadable document — is $29, one-time. No subscription required. 14-day money-back guarantee.

The letters

Are the letters specific to my state?

Yes. Each template uses jurisdiction-specific statute citations and notice periods where they make a difference. A California security-deposit demand cites Civil Code § 1950.5 with a 21-day deadline; a Texas one cites Property Code § 92.103 with 30 days. Citations are reviewed against current law (last full review: June 2026).

How are letters drafted?

Each letter combines a structural template (header, recipient block, salutation, statutory citation, signed demand, closing) with your specific facts. State law — the cited statute, the required notice period, and any statutory penalty — is selected from a per-state table maintained against the public code. The optional "Enhance with AI" feature uses Anthropic's Claude model to polish tone and structure; it is instructed to never change your facts, amounts, or citations, and you review every change before saving.

Can I edit the letter afterward?

Yes. Every field is editable before you finalize, and the finished letter opens in a full document editor — change anything, then download as a Word file or print.

How do I download my letter?

Two ways: a Word (.doc) download button on your document page, and your browser's print function for a clean PDF (we strip site navigation and chrome from the printed page).

What if my landlord, employer, or collector ignores it?

The letter is your paper trail for whatever comes next: small-claims court, an agency complaint, an attorney. Many recipients comply once they see a formal demand with a deadline and a statute citation. For those who don't, you've documented your demand and the date.

Locations

Which states do you cover?

All 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and the five U.S. territories (Puerto Rico, Guam, U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Northern Mariana Islands). Statute-verified data covers the 50 states and DC; territory letters use the general template.

Do you cover my city?

We have dedicated guides for the 50 largest U.S. metros — these add city-specific context (like your county's small-claims court) to the state-aware letter. For other cities, the statewide template works because state law governs the underlying dispute.

What about cities with rent control or just-cause eviction?

Where a city ordinance (rent stabilization, just-cause-eviction rules, local notice timing) may layer on top of state law, check with a local tenant-rights organization before sending. Examples include parts of California, New York, Oregon, New Jersey, Washington, and DC.
